Minnesota State Statute 86B.121 Races, competitions and Exhibitions requires all events, such as races, tournaments, or other competitions to obtain a permit from the Sheriff's Office in the county in which the event is being held.
The Water Event Permit application (PDF) form is required to be completed and returned to the Sheriff's Office.
Minnesota State Statute 6110.8100 Placement of Temporary Structures and Buoys in the Water of the State requires all temporary structures left in the water between the hours of sunset and sunrise to obtain a permit from the Sheriff's Office in the county in which the structure will be located. This would include temporary signs as well.
The Water Structure Permit application (PDF) form is required to be completed and returned to the Sheriff's Office along with a fee payment in order for a permit to be issued.
