Definition List

  • Petty Misdemeanor: Any offense punishable by a fine not to exceed $300.
  • Misdemeanor: Any offense punishable by up to 90 days in jail and/or a fine up to $1,000.
  • Gross Misdemeanor: Any offense punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine up to $3,000.
  • Felony: Any offense punishable by imprisonment for more than one year.

Juveniles

Juveniles cannot not be convicted of a crime unless they are prosecuted as an adult. They are instead adjudicated delinquent. If the offense is a misdemeanor, they are adjudicated for a misdemeanor-level offense. If the offense is a felony, they are adjudicated for a felony-level offense.
