The jail addition, which was completed in 2005, added 74 more beds, and now houses up to 112 prisoners.
Russ grew up in Hoyt Lakes on the Iron Range, and then moved to Southwest Minnesota where he began his law enforcement career. He spent 10 years there and then in 1995 moved to Isanti County where he started as a Deputy. In 1996 Russ was promoted to Sergeant. Sheriff Ammend appointed Russ to the Chief Deputy position in 2003. Russ and his wife Sue have been married since 1981 and have two children, Joshua and Jamie, and one grandchild. Russ and Sue have been residents of Braham since 1995.

RECENT NEWS: Request for Proposals: Food Management Services for the Isanti County Jail Due: October 31, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. The Isanti County Sheriff's Office was notified of a Department of Justice Grant in the amount of $11,966 to aid in our crime fighting efforts in Isanti County. We have applied for the money and it should be allocated in the near future.
