ISANTI COUNTY 2016 ELECTIONS INFORMATION
CAMBRIDGE, MINNESOTA – The Isanti County Auditor-Treasurer’s office is preparing for the upcoming General Election to be held on November 8, 2016. Isanti County Auditor-Treasurer Chad Struss shares the following information to assist the county’s voters.
REGISTERING TO VOTE
Residents can register to vote or verify their registration status at www.mnvotes.org. They can also contact the Auditor-Treasurer’s office to register or check their registration status.
Absentee voting will begin September 23 and continue through November 7. Absentee voting can be done at the Isanti County Auditor-Treasurer’s office located in the Isanti County Government Center, 555 18th Avenue SW in Cambridge. Absentee voting hours are from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. The Auditor-Treasurer’s office will also be open for absentee voting on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Absentee voting can also be done via mail. Absentee ballot applications can be obtained online at www.mnvotes.org. Residents can also have an absentee ballot application mailed to them by contacting the Auditor-Treasurer’s office. Once an application has been returned and accepted, an absentee ballot and instructions will be mailed to the voter.
NEW EQUIPMENT FOR ABSENTEE VOTING
Isanti County recently purchased a new ballot counter model, the DS200, for the 2016 election. The DS200 model offers several advantages over previous models including faster processing speeds and the ability to program a single machine to count all of the county’s ballots. The DS200 is available for demonstration during the Auditor-Treasurer’s normal office hours.
Isanti County will use the DS200 model for in-person absentee voting. In the seven days preceding the election from November 1 through November 7, absentee voters will have the option of inserting their ballot directly into the DS200 model and counted immediately.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 8. The polling places will be open for voting from 7:00am to 8:00pm. Voters can find their polling place by contacting the Auditor-Treasurer’s office or using the Minnesota Secretary of State’s polling place finder at http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/
